On Saturday we met with two potential contractors who will help build our school. The first we met with in Nana's house and we talked to him about our design for a long time. We then coordinated visiting the site in Sogakope with him the next day. Afterwards we explored other parts of Accra by driving to the Accra Mall and the A&C mall.
I never would have thought we would visit a mall while in Ghana. These malls were designed similarly to a US mall and are clean and very nice. US malls seem to have less people nowadays as young people now prefer to go into downtowns of cities. But these two malls in Accra were filled with tons of people inside and out buying anything from electronics to groceries to coffee to clothes. Accra Mall even had a dance performance with a large stage and speakers.
For dinner we met with the second contractor at the A&C mall. We talked to him about our design and as well as development in Ghana. He surprised me a little when he said Ghana was one of the best places to invest money in in Africa because it was developing fast and was politically stable. I looked this up afterwards and Ghana does seem to be rather developed for Africa, though still behind South Africa, Kenya, and some of the countries along the Mediterranean.
